I would try www.sidewindersprockets.com. I swear by their sprockets (especially the titanium models) but don't particularly care for their chains. The chain that lasted the shortest in my 11 years of riding was a sidewinder stainless chain. One of its pins sheared in half! I called sidewinder hoping for a discount on a new one, but no luck. Other than that incident, they have been good people to work with, and want to make a deal on first time purchases.

Neither Sidewinder nor Sprocket Specialists offer a steel 42-tooth sprocket. I can't find one anywhere. Any suggestions? I'd be willing to go with a bigger sprocket too, but it's got to be made out of steel or something of equivalent strength (i.e., titanium). Aluminum just doesn't hold up in the sand. Thanks for the input!

Try Albasports.com I think they have sprockets, don't know if they are steel or not.

Alba has steel sprockets, but they only go up to a 41-tooth. I need a steel 42-tooth or larger. Thanks anyway!

What gear ratios are you trying to get. You can get a 14 tooth front and a 41 rear for a 2.93 ratio stock ratio is 2.5 and what size tires are you running. The height of the tire will change the ratio.

I'm trying to get the highest ratio I can get without replacing the chain. I heard that a 14-tooth countersprocket is very hard on the countershaft and the chain because of the extreme angle. I've got a 15-tooth countersprocket now, but I want more low-end for hill climbing in the sand. I'm not concerned with the inevitable loss of top end. I'm running 20-inch paddles. Thanks!
