Default I've decided.

Went looking at quads yesterday. Test drove a ds650, a kfx400, and a raptor. I liked them all and was going to buy the raptor, but yamaha finance turned down my application. I'm glad they did because it gave me time to think. Looking back at the test drives in my mind, I realized I like the ds650 better. It feels solid and comfortable. Plus the salesman came down to $5,800 for a brand new 03 DS In a couple months me and my bud are going to buy 2 on the same day. Woot

Tell the salesman that if he gives you a better deal, you'l buy 2 (you and your friend), then he'l come down even more, although you already got a good deal

they are all good when new and shiny. it is the test of time that makes the difference. i have two ds's that tell me they last and my wife must roll or flip hers every trip, one broken brake lever and that is it. now my friends with the raptors, have electical problems broken chains, clutchs that have broken plates, and the list goes on and on. and yes i will admit they are hard on there machines, but i have let them ride my ds and no broken chains or axle coming loose. and i would be the first to admit if you want to ride your quad in the trees the raptor would have the edge, for nothing else the reverse would give them that. but i think a 650 pararie woulde be a good choice for trees and tight quarters. but open up the space just a little, and the situation turns in favor of the ds. and yes the fan has gone out on one of my ds's but it has not ever kept me from riding, or getting back to camp.

Good decision and good price.

If I could only have one machine (what fun would that be) It would be the DS. It is comfy, fast (well not as fast as some of these guys around here), has the best suspension and is just a blast to ride.
