1. Will synthetic oil cause the clutch to slip?
2. After market A-Arms. What do you run? 0+0, 0+1 or 1+1 and why.
The reason I am asking is the American Star A-Arms I have, have a design flaw and Alba is giving my money back. I am looking at the TBR Racing A-Arms and they stated that most people are running 0+1. I have been running the 1+1’s and have been happy but TBR is making me question my decision. If you could please share your thoughts with me I would greatly appreciate it.

no synthetic oil will not make the clutch slip but you need to get a synthetic that is meant for a wet clutch. It has no additives like in amsoils 4-stroke engine oils. or honda hp-4 oil. As for the ASR arms I don't know much about them. what design flaw are you talking about?? The ds650 front end has bad geometry to begin with.. I've talked with ASR and he said he was adapting a long travel type system with honda hubs to correct this problem but it way too expensive for me..

The problem I am having is that the Lower shock mount is located improperly. As a result when I top out my suspension the shock does not top out all the way. What is stopping the top out is the upper A-Arm is actually hitting the lower body of the shock. In addition the top hyme joint actually hits the hex head mount causing the hex head to damage the upper hyme joints.
I first realized this problem when I tried to install a set of Works Pro Series and they could not be installed due to the top A-Arm hitting the shock spring. The Works spring goes down to the lower shock mount. The stock shock has a 3”+- void between the spring and the lower mount. This was the beginning of my findings.
I also talked to the owner of American Star and he was great. I am not interested in the long arm he is developing. I also found out that there were many generations of the A-Arm and you may not have the same version that I have and may not have the problem.
Long story short I am purchasing new arms and I am wondering if I should run a 0+1 or a 1+1.

This is why I like using ATV Connection. You can get your questions answered by people that are interested in helping others. Call a shop or parts supplier and they are just looking to make the sale.
A-Arms
0+0 = Stock width and stock wheel base
0+1 = Stock width and 1” forward. (Adds 1’to the overall wheel base)
1+1 = 1” wider wheel base (1/2” per side) and 1” forward (Adds 1’to the overall wheel base)
Swing Arm
-0 = 1” shorter that stock
+0 = Stock length
+1 = 1” longer than stock
And so on.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Gforce In This Review it says the DS 650 has the equivalent of +2 A-arms right from the factory. Does that mean 1+1?

To answer your question, no.
In comparison to other quads such as the Raptor, the stock DS arms are approximately 2” wider than the Raptor.
Over sized A-Arms in general are compared to the stock sizes of each quad. Even though the DS is 2” wider than the Raptor, the DS stock arms are 0+0. The review as I read it is telling us that a Raptor owner would have to use a 2”+0” to achieve the stock width of a DS. Once again the 2” = additional width compared to stock and the 0” = the same wheel base compared to stock.
I hope this makes sense.
Have a great day!
