Default DS650 on aluminum diet

Why do all the magazines keep mis-representing the weight of the DS??
The DS weighs 460lbs. The Baja weighs 490. Even the Bomb website has misprints leading people on. I've got old magazines out the wazzoo showing a 460 dry weight, now you see all kinds of claims - 475, 490, its pissing me off.
The new '04 DS written about in Dirtwheels is supposedly targeted at 430lbs. This is a 30lbs. weight loss!
Hey, just venting, aluminum frame to boot would be nice, but I think its wishful thinking. Like Mark said, I'd be cheaper for me to lose 30 lbs.

HIghtower,,I only weigh 150...if I lose 30 pounds I would have to change my name to Little Waynester...

I wonder if you will be able to mount a 2000 ds motor in the new frame, or will they change the way it mounts.

If this is true i think i am going to have to sell one of my DS's to get one. I heard from someone they are going to keep it at the same price, 6599 or 6999. If they do come out with them they would double their sales compared to the current DS. Think of all the people that complain about the weight, now they have no reason to complain anymore. Should be interesting. Sean

It will be interesting to see if they get the suspension right. There is more to consider than just the weight savings. They are going to have to change a few other things to make the whole package work.

Think about it though, Rotax Power + Less Weight!!!

Guess I better start looking for some Go Fast parts, gotta be able to keep up with the Bombers.

I always knew the Baja to be 475lbs. There is no way that the extra stuff on the Baja ways 30lbs more than a regular DS. I thought it was 460lbs for the reg DS, and 475lbs for the Baja??? 30 more lbs. is alot. 15 is more like it.
