I've got another question that I forgot to ask earlier. Is there a easier way to adjust the chain ? Bombardier's method of sitting on it and adjusting the slack is a royal pain in the butt. OR am I just not getting it.? It seems that you have to have four hands or keep getting on and off the quad not to mention trying to reach over with a tape measure while your sitting on it. Also at the end when you lift the quad is it just to unsprung the bike or are you supposed to keep it lifted ? Thanks again for the help.

 

when adjusting the chain by myself i sit backwords on the grab bar, i aint comfortable and reach down and check the tension, you want it to be just not quite tight with the suspension fully compressed, so you dont have the chain trying to rip the front sproket off when you land a jump, i adjust mine every 4-5 rides, and guess what.......... Im still running the stock chain roller with hardly any wear!....

stock chain roller?!? So you're the one! My quad came to me with a loose chain and no roller.

When I adjust my chain, I just lie back on the seat and reach under there with my right hand. Forget the tape measure, I'm not nearly that coordinated. It's not too hard to estimate less than an inch. I guess my method still includes getting on and off a couple of times to adjust, but it's still WAY easier than screwing around with little adjuster bolts like on a Banshee.

 

For $4 a piece you can go to Lowes, or Home Depot and by "tube of sand". They way 65/70lbs a piece. Buy as many as you need to equal your wieght, and stack them on your seat, when it comes time to adjust your chain.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

He's not the only one with the stock chain roller. Also mine is a 2000! Thats 3 years.

 

grab one of you'r tie down straps, sit on the machine for normal ride height, titen the strap between the grab bar and the swingarm (anywhere by the shock or rear bolt points) sinch it so to keep weighted ride height. get off and adjust all day long. sand bags? bigger i thought we were going to ride sand not sit on it[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

I keep the sand bags handy, so when I race some 150lbs guy on his Rappy, I make him wear the sand bags to even out the wieght difference[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] They kinda act like they don't like it though.......Hmmmm O'well.

But to be honest, I LIKE SAND!!!

Being a big guy myself (290) I love that sand bag balast idea!!!!! The next time some mini me starts beak'n off to me to race, I'll duct tape 2 bags of sand to his bike faster than yu can say "where did he go??" then ask him to put his money where his mouth is !! thanks biggerisbetter!!!
