That is what I was thinking. Since the carb line was in the intake tube, it was pulling a vacuum for the slide. Now that is is being vented to atmosphere pressure, is this going to affect the slide in the carb?
I thought this line is what created the diferential pressure (delta p) for the carb to reference slide position.
Anyone know anything for sure?

Gaskett,
That is one of the reasons I went away from the carb mount filter. The breather filter solution works, but the throttle response is sluggish without the vacuum. When I was running the stock carb I found better throttle response and top end power when I converted to running the stock air tube with no box and a K&N. The tube doesn't collapse on mine, I have tried to make it do so on the dyno, probably because of non-restricted flow.

Carb slide gets vacuum to open from two holls that go up the center of the slide.
FourWheel was meaning just use a small filter meant for a crankcase vent on the end of the hose coming from the carb - not actually hook it to the crankcase vent. you should have a filter on the crankcase vent, buy another one for the carb tube.
I however, like Ken, always ran with airbox, no lid. Close enough to just as good in my opinion as a carb mount, for a stock carb.
