Sorry I don't know that much about the inside of quads, but I sure as hell can drive em.

I wheelied a slightly modded 400ex for over 15 kms (8 miles) without dropping it once. That was on a uncompleted highway, fresh pavement, no wind and no turns. Nice, I do more open-trail riding, etc. I do like my quad to be agile tho, not like my huge *** pig (Sp500). Man I need to test drive a DS.

it seperates the boy riders from the girl riders[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] on the oregon dunes there are a few lakes and some steep hills well on the side of the hills there is a bunch of trees. well someone must of went over the edge and made a trail at one time, well the next guy must of followed well the sand must of slid down and made just enough room to turn around without going into the lake, well you turn around and have to climb a very steep hill, one of my raptor buddies said he tryed it on his warrior once took 5 hours to get out. he didn't seem to excited about trying it on his raptor. well this would explain florence, i'm sure there are other ideas on this subject. but i will add that i think the ds is great at this area also.

 

Jesus I wish there were dunes around here that aren't federally protected(something about piping clovers, some bird they think they should protect at the expense of our fun). If I was to take a drive on the dunes we have hear, I'd be tortured then executed.:-(

I am new to this forum saw this guys ? so here goes I have a 01 ds650 stock except for the k&n a/f. My room mate just bought a predator he works at polaris in the dyno rooms after break in we took them out side by side he can pull on me off the line but after I get to 3-4 gear I walk right by him this is on the highway. So after that he installed the whitebros e series pipe and we ran again he could pull a little farther on me but again 4th gear I rolled by him again. SO them he installed a 9100rpm rev limiter and we went again this time he pulled about 2 lengths ahead of me but again I can still beat him in a mile long race but out on a motocross track the pred I think would beat the ds pretty bad. so the predator is a pretty fast bike The weight difference between the two of us on our bikes is the same. Oh the hp rating coming out of the pred is 52hp. So polaris did pretty good with this bike for its first year out

I'll give it a shot, This pass weekend at Comp (where sandman rides) I took on a Predator. Now I'm somewhat new at riding my Stock DS and I have watched stock predators hill climb before and didn't feel too treatened. This one however had a big gun pipe and who know what else, the guy knew how to ride.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] On each run he was able to get a quad lenth on me if we had an even start. I was impressed. Stock for Stock, hill climbing in the sand, I would put my money on the DS.
Comp Hill is a up hill sprint about 150-200 yard at 30-40deg. It short but sweet![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

you needed the get a cdi that would help a lot and that hill is to steep right now for stock gearing a 15 front and in most cases a 14 then you would have put it to him.
