Default 2002 Baja oil refill question?

Opon reading advise for replacing stock clutch springs for 60% stronger from Woods, I drained coolant, and oil from crankcase put it back together, went to add oil when I realized I had only drained about a quart or so and after adding a quart and a half my resivor was full to the top. Just for the heck of it loosen drain plug and walla no oil came out, is this sucker just sloooww filling or did I miss a step on the oil changing proceeder. Have'nt officially done an oil change myself yet. I think I read somewhere that you dont half to mess with the bleeder screw enless your oil light comes on, or 2001 or later have an inline breather on one of the oil lines that illiminates the need for the oil bleeder screw. Anyway Ia'm doing somthing wrong here I think, maybe cranking it over a few would send the oil down where it belongs. Any help would be appreciated. My currant setup is an Alba 2002 Baja piped, kn filter, with outer wear Gradon skid plate cooler grabar 15 tooth sproket dune runners up front 22" extreems on rear and myself weighing in at 240lbs heeded the heavier clutch spring advise.

Just crank it over a few times and check it again. It is a dry sump setup so you need to turn the motor over to get the oil in.

Pull the large hose on the left side of the engine that is connected to the oil reservoir, that will empty that, and of course the drain plug from the bottom of the engine, took me the first oil change and a little oil spied in the garage to figure it out.

That's what I do. My dealer told me about it. It's a much cleaner drain when using the hose.

Default 2002 Baja oil refill question?

Thanks JMAC650 the info and thanks for the help from the others who replied. I,am still quad repair challenged and this oil resevor thing has me a little puzzeld. When I drained the oil for this clutch spring job, not much oil came out. Like only a quart if that. The oil was just changed recently and was at correct level on dip stick.I only pulled the drain from under bike and not the upper hose to do a complete oil change, also drained and refilled coolant. Now what has me concerned is that when I filled the resivor at the top where the dip stick is to the correct level on stick, I just for the heck of it loosend the oil drail plug under bike just to see if oil made it way down, and no oil, or maybe a themble or two. Is this normal? But I also turned it over with the kill switch on a few revolutions and it seemed to lower the level on stick but not much. I guess my question is would it be ok to let it idle for 5 or 10 seconds then recheck oil level or don't start it at all and just keep turnning it over with the kill switch on hopeing battery will survive. I guess this aint as eazy as my old Bultoco.

Bombastic take one spark plug out and just turn the engine over for about 4 sec no more. The engine has what is called a dry sump. The engine only holds about a quart of oil the rest is stored in the oil tank. Does the red oil light, light up then goes out? If so you are ok to run the engine for 1 or 2 minutes then check the oil level again.
