Raceway XL 50 ATV
#1
Can anyone give me any info on this quad? I'm all set to buy a used LT50 A, but in surfing around this site I found the Raceway site and the XL 50 looks like a pretty good unit. Size wise it seems only a bit larger than the LT50, but seems to offer a lot more for half what I'd pay a friend for the LT50. Over the years I've always owned Hondas and Yamahas, so I'm a bit leary of a no-name, but for the price difference it might be worth a shot??? Is this quad a Yamoto, I'm not sure as to the manufacturer... Thanks for any input!

A couple of follow-up questions, how do the brakes operate on this quad, is there a foot brake or just one brake lever that controls all the brakes? I'm in California, is the quad able to be Green stickered? If so how difficult is that to do when buying from an out-of-state dealer like Raceway? Since it's from out-of-state what taxes what I have to pay?

Welcome to the forum MrD, I am not very familar with the LT 50 but I do trust john at raceway. As far as getting it registered and paying the taxes you will do that when you take the certificate of origin, bill of sale, and the quad to the DMV.you will have to pay sales tax on the price of the quad.

MrD,
This is exactly the same quad I have for my son but with the 70cc motor. SunL is the major importer for this model of quad. I also have purchased two others of the same for a few friends and we have had ZERO problems with this quad. When they arrived, I pulled them out of the crate and removed just about every nut & bolt and used Blue Thread Locker one them. I also changed the oil in the crankcase with some good 4-stroke ATV oil.
The braking system is AWESOME! It uses a single disk brake in the rear and brake pads are easy to find. They are the exact same brake pads & brake caliper used on the Kawasaki Mojave, Tecate & Lakota. This little quad has great safety features that are easy to sell to moms.
As for California license, mywifesquad pretty much addressed that. I however did not purchase them from John, but his price is exactly what I paid for mine including shipping.
Sorry John, you didn’t carry them when I purchased mine. :-)
MrD, if you have any further question, please e-mail me… You can’t go wrong with this little quad.

Just purchased to 50 xl last friday, ill let you know how it performs! I have not seen anyone post about the 50 xl to my knowledge. I was leaning to the Kazuma 50 but the XL had a disk brake and the motor seemed to be a little stronger. A guy i know bought a Suzuki 50 for his girls with a automatic tranny and that thing could barely pull it self.

I'll be looking forward to the first hand update. At this point I'm leaning towards to the Suzuki, but nothing's sure yet. Have you actually received yours yet, or are you awaiting delivery?

I'm wondering about the Yamoto thing as well. Raceway does put the XL 50 in the Yamoto section of their site, yet on the actual XL 50 page it never says specifically what brand the XL 50 is. Someone has posted this very question in the Kid Quad area, so the brand of this thing is in question.

I'll be looking forward to your initial impressions! From your sig, I can tell you're a seasoned ATV'er. The LT50 is being held for me, but I'm not completely locked in, so I'd love to find a good reason to save $500 and give my son a brand new quad in his favorite color Green LOL I'll have to call John and discus the CA Green Sticker issue, but I'm waiting on your review
