Please help!

son's ATV worked great for about 2 months then carb got hosed up. Tried adjusting the carb according to some other posts here (1 3/4-2 turns out) and the idle. Drained gas. Tried bouncing ATV to free float.

Starts fine. Idles fine. Bogs down after 1 sec of throttle. Everything else is fine. Spark plug? Timing? seems to simple of an engine not to be the carb.

Any thoughts?

I'm assuming you let it idle until hot and it still doesn't work right.

Check to make sure that the top cap of the carb is tight (where the throttle cable enters the carb). If that doesnt help, change the plug. If neither of these two things help, adjust the valves.

Yes. Let it warm up for a good 20 minutes. Run with choke in until I give it throttle then it just starts to bog down till it dies.

What do you mean adjust the valves? You talking intake or exhuast?

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check the spark plug this weekend.

I have only had this thing since X-mas and I would guess it has maybe 8-10 hours on it. Is this the kind of reliability I can expect?

Both.

If you need to adjust the valves, there's a description in the "kids quads and other atvs" forum. Go to that forum and in the search bar at the top of the forum type 50 carb - one of the topics is "kazuma 50 carb woes". Read that posting.

If fiddling with the carb, cleaning it and changing the plug doesnt help, valve adustment problem seems a likely culprit. It shouldnt be too difficult.

I have had all kinds of starting and running issues. I just change the spark plug and it is a WORLD of difference. I keep about 4 on hand at all times and it is the FIRST thing I do when the maching acts up. It normally fixes the problem. I would say I only get about 10 hours out of each one.

fatboy1 if you're fouling out plugs every 10 hours means you runing to rich, probably because of a dirty airfilter, that one problem with the exposed aircleaner, keep the aircleaner cleaned and oiled and that should elimate the problem
