Starter problems
#1
Some of you may remember me posting about a Komoto 250 ATV That I bought a few months ago. Well last week the family and I finally took it out to the place we ride and it was running good. After it stalled a couple times it was very hard to get it to turn over again. First let me say that when you hit the start button cranking it over was very loud and not smooth sounding at all. Well over the weekend I had time to pull the starter and check out the gears. The starter gear has totally stripped out and the gear it meshes with to turn over the engine has very bad wear marks and a tooth chipped off. I have contacted the company I purchased it from for replacement parts but I also looked at ATV parts USA and it looks like the starter from the Redcat DPX200 and the starter to motor gear from the Redcat DZ150 are the exact same parts that I need for this. If the starter hasnt been engaging correctly would it cause this? I checked the gears out before this happened and it looked like the starter gear didnt mesh tightly with the starter to motor gear but it wasnt slipping either.

Well I have to give the dealer credit from where I bought this. My bad starter and gear were delivered to them this morning and they had my new replacement parts shipped out this afternoon. Hopefully this will fix the problem and can get out riding it again soon.
