performence???

No, it's a good thing. It makes your ATV accellerate faster, AND, because the 4th gear is pretty high, it won't lose much top speed. It will also allow you to pop a wheelie without standing on the back or the seat. You just hold on and give it some throttle and the front will come right up. Believe us when we say that you will be much happier with a 15 tooth sprocket. If you got yours from raceway, then he will send them to you for FREE, so why not give it a try?
Other than that, the cheapest performance mod would be porting the exhaust port and pipe for better airflow, but that is something that should be done by an adult with experience.

do you mean have to change faster????? wouldnt that be bad</end quote></div>
Shifting thru the gears allows you to put the most power to the ground as possible. If the power is needed. If the power isnt needed. Like when you give it too much gas on gravel or in the mud and spin out. Then you would need to use a higher gear or use less throttle. I would guess that you dont spend much time in 4th gear on your Jetmoto 250. A smaller front sprocket will allow you to use 4th gear more, and will give you the performance you are looking for in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. Why dont you think your parents wouldnt want you to have a smaller front sprocket?

Tell them to buy you safety equipment if they "really love me and don't want me to get hurt." $300 in safety gear can save $3000 at an ER.
Forget wheelies man, the lower gearing will make your quad go FASTER. Isn't that what you wanted to begin with?

Your parents dont want you to get hurt. Being a parent who now has adult kids I can understand their concerns. You can tell them that a 14 tooth front sprocket, will make the quad's top speed lower. Right now if you had a long enough, perfectly flat road to get to the top speed in 4th gear. You would probubly be going over 70 mph. With the 14 tooth sprocket you could only go about 45 mph.

Jetmotoracer: wow. that was great. We have no idea what you want. Get some tires or something. Get a 15 tooth sprocket instead of the 14 and you will be happy (he is much lighter than us.)
Mywifesquad: I thought the jetmoto was 64mph stock on a dyno (no wind resistance.)

jetmotoracer, you could get a 15 tooth and it would probubly be in the low 50's.
pimpsmurf, I read that some where too, I figured the dyno had some drag. I was only guessing and trying to make a point. I dont think it worked.
