My Marshin uses a Lifan motor. It is a LC163FML, 196cc. It is a overhead cam though. They sell the engine here, there is motor info there too.

Coloradotrailrider,
You replied to me on the other post of "chinese atv's" about the 171FMM engine, and here is what I have found out so far. The Lifan 250st-10 you said might be our engine according to Lifan is a 167FMM-N engine on that ATV.
Here is the Link.....http://www.lifan.com/en/produc...?parentid=8313&id=861
If you look at Lifan Group website you will find the 167FMM engine but will not find the 171FMM engine. I asked 3 different Ebay vendors selling the Taotao 250 D with the 171FMM engine who makes it and got 3 different answers, one said Lifan, the other Loncin, and the other Zongshen. But if you look at all 3 companies you will find they have no reference to the 171FMM engine.
The chinese are very good at cloning things and so far it appears that they have cloned the Lifan 200cc enigne which is a clone of the Honda xl-200, but I can not figure out who makes it. I found a document on the Lifan webpage about some companies in the U.S. selling clones and heres the link....
http://www.lifan.com/en//corpn...cid=8885&parentid=358
I really was hoping Lifan makes this 171FMM engine as maybe an OEM engine but it appears they do not. I shot off some e-mails to Lifan group and American Lifan about the 171FMM so well see if I get a response. I have not checked my head bolts yet, but even if they do have the LLL on them the chinese are known for copying names and trademarks to pass off their "clones". A lot like the Apple Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word with the Apple trademark on cloned Ipods.
I will let you know if I find out any more as I would really like to know the true origin on these motors and the real bore and stroke along with the actual horsepower and torque rating. The 171FMM I have runs great and appears to be of good fit and finish but it would be nice to know what parts would fit and where to get them................................Slydog

cool thanks for the info slydogs...we seem to get a little more info each day and its all good.
btw i thought you all might like this site....the 250 i linked to HERE has the Zongshen engine in it and also has a close up of the engine.
feel free to see if any other bikes have this engine to as it does list the spec at the bottom of the page

Hi again slydog, I am glad to see more interest in this engine. I two would like find more info on it. It is interesting that the web site Lifan group lists the 167FMM to have a bore and stroke of 67mm X 66mm. with those specs the displacement calculates out to be 232.7cc. On the American Lifan web site it lists the Lf250st-10 as having a displacement of 238cc. Just interesting stuff
Another member, SSGT Tanner, just made a very interesting post. Him and a friend just split the case on this engine and the piston rod has Lifan stamped on it.
More info the better, thanks slydog. Looking forward to what you find.

SSGt Tanner that is good to know. Do you think you and your friend could measure the stroke since you have it appart. All you would have to do is measure the length the piston travels from the top of the stroke to the bottom of the stroke. Inches is fine, I could convert that to milimeters.
With that stroke measurement we will know exactly what the displacement of the 171FMM engine. I look forward to here of your engine modifications outcome. Thanks man, your info is greatly appreciated.
