The 171fmm engines must not all be created equal then. Maybe that HiBird does'nt have a Lifan engine but a clone.
I am starting to think those emissions badges are leaving a little to be desired with accuracy on any of the China ATVs.
Think you guys have anyway of taking some pictures and posting them on here of your V4S engine case that you split. If not, no biggie. How is that project going? You mentioned that it was a nightmare, just wondering about your progress on it. Man if you get that back together and running it should be a beast.

great news sgt tanner, hope all goes well.any chance on getting it on video? and also what was the solution to the exhaust melting the rear plastics? did the standard can go back on or have you heat proofed the plastics for the FMF can?
i have seen a heat reflective sticky pad you can cut and mould to shape.comes in sheets 12" X 8".

Man my father-inlaw has a Hibird 200cc, I hope it doesn't just quit like that up in the mountain trails. I think I will pack a tow strap and a pair of jumper cables along with some tools this summer just in case.

Slydog, we are all finding out how inaccurate those emission badges are. Some of the 2007 and 2008 Vbike V4S ATVs badges state 197cc on a 250. Of course we now know the measured bore and stroke of that engine, thanks to SSGT Tanner, actual displacement 241cc.
I don't trust those "stinking badges".
