Default Falcon 250 startup problems when cold

Hey I just got two falcon 250s, and one works and starts up fine, the other when cold takes about three cranks to start then I have to keep gassing it or drive it or will turn off, once warm it stays on and cranks right up, any suggestions on fixing this to start on first crank like my other, I am a novice so any pictures or specifics on where to find parts on bike or buy would be very helpful and appreciated. thanks.

The "Idle Mixture Screw" needs to be turned 1/4 to 1/2 turn counter clockwise (out). This screw is probably on the 'underside' of the carb, toward the engine block. They are usually 'impossible' to get to. I usually take a 'very' small straight bladed screw driver and 'brake' most of the handle off of it to get something to turn the screw with (or a small pair of needle nose pliers).

Clean the pilot jet out real good. This means removing the jet from the carb. Spray it with carb cleaner, then blow it dry with an air hose. Make sure you can see light through the jet it when you finish blowing it dry.

If you still have the starting issue go up one or two sizes on the pilot jet(slow jet).

Another thing you may want to try is a valve adjustment.

Good Luck.

SB.
