Default hello new to the fourm and need help please

thanks for letting me join the fourm this is a tao tao 4 wheeler
Ok here goes bought a new 2018 125cc tao tao (spelling) i think since cannot find name on it.the kids have rode it 15 times maybe total of 2 hours and i have put 4 battery's 5 voltage reg 1 new stater on it.
when checking the voltage at idle its at 13.8 when you start to rev it up it will climb to 16.8 volts
when you let off it will come back to 13.8 to 14 volts seems like the long it runs the higher the voltage will go.
can someone point me in the right direction to go im at my end with this thing.
the stator has 1 yellow 1 red 1 green 1 blue 1 white wire coming out of it
the white the red the green and yellow go to the regulator.
thanks again

Depends if it actually has a voltage regulator or not. On most quads there is a combined rectifier, that turns AC into DC and a regulator that wastes any voltage over abut 14.5v. However some cheapo bikes just have a rectifier, and the alternator is so feeble in output that voltage doesn't get much over 15v. If you have a regulator, it has been your bad luck to get 5 bad ones in a row. If you haven't a regulator, then the system is working, though some rectifier only bikes use a system where an extra alternator coil is switched on with the lights (to increase output when the lights are on), if this was wired in when it isn't needed, this would result in overcharging.
