Default Belt issue

Brand new raptor 200 (taotao) , GY6 engine with CVT .

Within the first 5 hours of use quad start making a grinding noise when engaging foward (not always) then clunk into gear and no more noise. I took the belt cover off and there is rubber residue all over..

man im starting to reget this purchase, so my questions are,

what can cause this?

should i change the belt immediatly?

what should i be looking for?

Rather a lot of dust, but grinding gears indicates the carb's slow running may be set to high so the belt is engaged when you try to put it into gear. It is worth checking and cleaning the drive pulley assembly while you have it stripped down to ensure it works correctly.

i cleaned everything today and put everything bacl together but it did it again. So finally i adjusted the gear shifter to be able to travel foward just a bit more and it seems way better now. It did the grinding one time out of 30 I would say instead of one out of 5.
