Tatao b110 stater keeps blowing
#1
I have a taotao b110 put a brand new starter in. It will be good for like a dozen starts and then startee is fried. Bought a new ome off amazon, fine again for another dozen starts and fried again. Any idea??

How long are you churning the engine over to achieve each of these 12 starts? If an engine is slow to start, the starter motor gets hot by the time it does fire up. Other cause can be a heavy load due to either a partly seized engine, requiring more force to spin it over, or ignition timing out and it firing too early. Poor contacts on earths and starter live leads will slow the starter, making it take longer to fire up, as will the thin starter and earth leads which Chinese stuff tends to have.

Only have to turn the choke on and hit the button for a few seconds and it starts right up. Now its just clicks. When thia happened last time i was able to exchange the starter, put the new one in and started right up again. Now it just clicks again when I try to start it.

So it may not have been the starter at fault in the first place. Both starters and solenoids can go intermittent when they are going to fail. I always do a simple quick test to work out which is at fault. Connect a high wattage 12v test lamp between starter live lead and earth, switch on, press start button, if solenoid clicks and lamp doesn't light, faulty solenoid, if lamp lights brightly but starter doesn't work, faulty starter.
