I picked up a children's quad yesterday which runs but needs some work. It has a BMX brand seat on it and I was able to locate a VIN which is L5NATMGT47T076943. It appears to be a Tao Tao but I cannot tell what CC or model. I spoke with someone who said he couldn't identify it by VIN because Tao changed VINs in 2015 or so to L9N, which makes sense because anytime I try to run the vin, it says it's incorrect. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Checked Cyclepedia and that didn't come up with anything except year, which is 2007 but that is obvious anyway. checked another site and yes, it is a TaoTao, no other details. Engine will be stamped with it's "family" code which gives bore size but not stroke (eg,152FMF is single cylinder of 52mm bore), cylinders usually have capacity cast on them too. Buying spares for Chinese stuff is usually a case of look at the pictures (they often give dimensions too) on the generic Chinese spares sites, buy the one that looks the same and hope it is right.

 

You won’t find any info on it or parts . The Chinese make a number of machines and only enough parts for that number of machines. Scrap it it’s worthless.
