Okay I have to say that I have seen some interesting things here in my native Oklahoma, some of which caused a second take. But never before, and doubtfully in the future, have I ever seen a tatoo raffled off...not one but two, hahaha. I wonder if Jeff Foxworthy reads this thread.
Grandma, where did you get your tatoo?
"I won it as a door prize at the mud bogs"
Bob "Tyler where do you all keep finding these tiny towns in OK that I have never heard of?" Bobman

Hello everyone,
My name is Brad Black, manager of the Cross Bar Ranch Park in Davis. I met Stella and her crew today and she told me about this forum so I thought I would log in and update everyone on the ranch.
The Cross Bar Ranch consists of 6,500 acres of city owned property west of Davis. We have set aside 2,800 acres of the property for the development of an ATV/Motorcycle area. At this point it is the largest area set aside in Oklahoma for strictly ATVs and motorcycles.
We are new and yes we are a long ways from being what we will become. One of the things we are doing is allowing the riders to be involved in the trail development project. The first step in this process will me Memorial Day Weekend when we have several riders coming in to camp and help discover and identify the existing trails and look at ways to connect them into loops.
Currently the OCCRA is working with me on this as well as several riders from Oklahoma and Texas that have already ridden the area. Several OCCRA officers rode the ranch Saturday and loved it. I was surprised to see that someone on a cycle had complained about the area since we have only had very few cyclists here and they are all positive.
I would love for your group to be part of this project. I apologize that I am contacting you at this late a date but I just found out about your group. Anyone interested in coming this weekend just drop me a line and consider yourself welcome. We will be cooking out each night with plans for briskets and ribs. Collections for the food will be requested so if you wish you can pitch in. There is no fee for those coming to work on the trails. No cutting will take place, just riding and exploring. Bring a GPS unitif you have one, it will help a bunch.
Regarding the boot issue. Any boots will do. Being we are a city park our insurance company dictates the regulations we have to follow and boots being required was one of the regulations. We don't expect everyone to go out and purchase a $300 pair of riding boots. Anything over the ankle that isn't a tennis shoe will do. Helmets are much more important.
I realize this is a short notice to all of you regarding Memorial Day. I would love to host your group for a weekend. Just let me know what weekend would be good for your club and we can set it up. Just let me know.
If anyone has any questions or comments please feel to contact me by e-mail at okieangler@brightok.net or by phone at (580)826-6027. We want to have the best ridIng area in the state and everyone being involved is vital to us developing this area for everyone.

Brad Of Crossbar...
Will you be having any actual activities on the Monday of memorial Day weekend? I have the Monday off but Sat and Sun are office days for me. I am not sure what my schedule is for Monday as of yet...but if you will still have riders/workers there I may drop in for a few hours...its hard to say as I have no idea what anyone else is going to be doing Monday.

Bob,
If you are free Monday come on out. I am sure that some of the folks will still be around as well as a few of them said they would be coming Monday anyway. Regardless you can still keep out the place and we can visit regarding setting something up for your club.

Brad,
I just found out that Monday I will be riding what we call "River Mist," one of our favoirte riding areas. There are going to be a few club members there...BUT... I will keep in contact and I am sure that either myself or someone else from the club will be able to get down there soon and do our best to coordinate with you.

Mike and others who may need the info,
Rivermist is located about 20 miles south of Seminole on Hwy 99. The "Rivermist" is actually an indian-owned quick stop and Casino (although the Casino is presently closed). The South Canadian River is about 1/4 mile south of the Rivermist Casino and has become known as the Rivermist Riding area.
To get to the parking area, you must cross the bridge heading south. It's a four lane highway and you must make a U-turn and get in the north-bound lane. Just before you reach the bridge in the north-bound lane there is a road on the east side. Turn on that road and follow it to the parking area, which is located under the bridge.
We rode out there yesterday and the river is pretty low, but there are still some deep holes in places. We had a blast and met some really nice folks. There's a "camp" about 10 miles downriver from the bridge that is really cool. They have built bathrooms and showers, as well as a 14' x 20' screened in building with an ice box, stove and tables. They also have RV pads with electric hook-ups, sidewalks and a playground for the kids. But, it's a private park, so you have to be invited to use their facilities. Luckily, we met many of the folks that hang out there and got an invite to come back anytime.
I found out through these folks that there are several of these "camps" up and down the river. They all got together last year and held a Poker Run on the river and they plan on doing it again this year. I think it's supposed to be sometime in June. I'll find out for sure later and let everyone know in case you're interested in participating.
I'm heading to Muskogee and Tahlequah this weekend, but I may try to make it back for monday if everyone else is going to be there.
