Well the official answer fro the DNR Warden Jason Roberts is that trail is off limits
its owned by Milwaukee County Parks. He has tried to get that established as a
trail but there are some endangered weeds that grow along the river there so
everyone's official answer is no.
The warden I talked to is interested in starting a local club and to see what he can
do in establishing trails other than the 6 miles of dust at Bong. He is an ATVer also
so he has some interests in this also.

I would not suggest anybody travel from far to go to these trails. We spoke with a couple locals, and rumors are that serious fines have been dealt out. We decided to take a chance and try it out. We found an inconspicuous place to park at and unload. It would be perfect if you knew somebody that lived in the immediate area, so you could just ride from their house. The trails themselves were alot of fun. I wish I knew how many miles we put on...but we rode for about an hour and a half but had to turn around because my buddy ran low on fuel in his Banshee. We'll be back in a few weeks hopefully with extra fuel on hand so we can do the entire loop. Check my Picture Page for the last three pictures...they were taken at the Root River Trails this Saturday.

Hay, cheezhead, have you ever rode on the southern wi. "Cheese Country " recreational trail located in monroe to mineral point ? I just found out about it and went for a little bit, only put on 54 miles. going to try to make it back there in a couple of weeks. Bruce.

Haven't been online in a while - Thought I'd check in to see if you were able to find the root river trails, and what you thought of the riding - they can be a fun challenge when it gets rainy and muddy - that's my favorite time to ride with my hubby!
