Front Tires
#1
I am looking for some upgraded FRONT rubber for my King Quad. The stock tire size is 24x8x11 i want to stick to that size, I might consider something a little wider but no taller. Any ideas? I would like something that would grab the mud a little better. Most of the common "mud" tires don't make anything that is 24 inches. Thanks in advance for the help.

That certainly is a hard size to find... in a serious mud tire.

I just ordered 6 tires from Rockymountain ATV, great service, best prices I could find and have delivered. The Titan 489's are the stock tire on the Artic Cats, at least the 500 model. They are almost the exact tread as your KQ. They are a very popular tire! I tried to get them, but they were out of stock, with the size I wanted. I ended up getting Sur Traks by Maxxis, so far, I've been impressed. It just depends on how you like to drive and what in. Probably won't see much more improvement over stock, unless your stock tires are worn out! Post any other question, I've got there catalog, and I will be glad to look up any tire or price for you! Good luck, Chris

It's me again, I looked in the catalog just to see what they have, the Sur Trak is a good tire, and it is said to be pretty good in steering due to it's lug pattern. They have a 24x9x11 for $48.99. That's only 1 inch wider, which will not interfere with anything. If you go to the site, you can look at the tire and see how it is designed. I put them on all 4 of my wife's Big Bear. I took it out just to check them out, I could definitely tell an improvement in mud and water and turning while in the mud and water. Gets good grip when going up rocky hills and weaving in and out of trees on the trails. I ride in the Southern KY and Tennessee border around Lake Cumberland, steep mountains and I was very pleased with the results. Took her through mud and water up over her tires, no problem, easier than with stock Dunlop Tires that's for sure. sorry for my rambling, guess you can't tell I liked the tires, heh?!? Ordered on a Sunday, got them that Friday, from Utah to Kentucky! If have any other questions, just ask! Chris

I have not bought anything just yet. There really is not much out there for mud tires in that size. I don't want vampires because I do ride on hardpack and rocks quite a bit and also use my machine for farm use, my point is that I think I would do more damage than good with vampires. I am not convinced mud sharks will wear well. I have never liked the "open lug" patterns they put on tires sometimes. They never like to wear very well. What I mean by "open lug" is having an open cut out on the tops of the tread lugs. Look at the mud sharks and you will see what I mean. I do like the titan 489's but they are not a mud tire and I really don't think that they will be any better than my stock tires. Without getting significantly more traction I don't think it would be worth spending the money on new front tires until I wear down the old ones some more. My plan all along has been to get a set of titan 589's for the rear. I think I will get just new rears and see what that can do for me and leave the fronts stock for now. Then as they wear down replace them with 489's
