i think u should get the AC 500 that has 2wd or 4wd selectable. most of the time i don't even need 4wd on my grizz. it saves alot of energy not having to be in 4wd all the time. it is alot easier to steer in 2wd than 4wd. i was alos thinking of getting a sportsman 500 but i have had so much trouble with polaris's in the past i threw that idea out. so i got grizzly and i was alittle skepticle about the air cooled 600cc. but i have never overheated it even on 100 degree days. the fan on the oil cooler comes on but not the temp light. as for the belt when i do get back into the woods it would really suck for the belt to break. then walk 10 miles back to the truck. but i can say i haven't had any trouble with the grizzly oh yea except the rear tires. i have had like 15 flats on them. 2 ply pieces of crap. how wide are the front tires on your AC 500? cause that makes a difference to but it probably just cause its a fulltime 4wd.
