Tire Shopping ???'s

I'm in need of new rears for my 300EX. I've added a SuperTrapp, airbox venting and have upped the jetting accordingly. Now she runs hot...too hot to put the power to the ground using the stock Kenda's. I'm spinning in all gears. I ride 10% of the time racing in this grassy open field, but the majority is on hard-packed, wooded trails which are loaded with debris like rocks, branches and stumps. I've thought about the ITP Holeshots, but worry that its not big enough tread for the terrain I ride.
Any input PLEASE!

Hello Hillside, well what I would say is to go with the holeshots definitely. Barry Hawk, that is the only name I think I need to mention. For one thing every pro rides on these tires and I would imagine they go through quite a bit more than you would. Rocks-No prob, mud-no prob, stumps no prob. The new XCT holeshots are 6 ply.
Well let me know what you end up buying. Talk to you later and have a good one.

Oops, I originally had this thread in with Other ATV Topics. Now that its here I see there are others with the similar interest, but still no clear cut winner on the rear tires. I'm hearing Holeshots vs. Razr's...what about the Pure Sports Bandits? Similar to Razr's? or not? How about Titan 945's? Because of my riding terrain I'm curious about sidewall wear and tear. A real concern or not really? Also, who has the best prices out there?
Thanks for any and all help!

Hillside Hawk, I've been up on my soap box so many times about the Titan/Pure sports Bandits they should pay me, but I'm on my 2nd (or 3rd?) set of Bandit xc's and & until I see something better for traction, sidewall strength, tread depth, durability, cornering, etc., I'll stick with them. The kevlar liner that goes from bead to bead gives great sidewall rigidity for aggressive cornering & protection from rocks.
The Bandit also carries a three star rating, the highest rating obtainable in atv tires.
Currently, your size would have to be the 20/10/9, however, I'm told Titan/Pure sports will introduce a 22" rear before the end of the year

I second your comments on the Bandits. I wanted a tire that was basically indestructable and I think I've found it in the Bandit xc. I also recommend running higher than normal tire pressures. I have had many problems with sidewall punctures in the past because on any kind of impact the tires sidewall would get pinched between the rim and the ground, rocks, stump, or whatever. I've found that running higher pressures prevents this from occuring. It may make the ride a little rougher, but the money I've saved has been worth it. I usually run from 8 to 10 psi all the way around.

It's nice to see you are looking for a new set of tires. Obviously, your current bike is not running at a competitive clip. I suggest you reconsider your search for tires and instead begin searching for a new bike. I believe your problem is more that you ride a Honda. In fact, everyone in the family believes you have Polaris envy. Even Hammer questions your ride... especially after having worked on it at the Puttygut Fabrication Plant. Sorry to break the news to you this way, but it's time you came into the family. Polaris... Ride the Best.

Rattler,
(Sorry to drag this thread down to the snake's level, but I can't let his comment go unchallenged)
So my Cuz, did you get your Polaris TrailBlunder 250 out of the shop yet? You've been wearing out the dealer with warranty work, right? Action (or lack of) speaks louder than words so you won't get me to switch to the mechanics nightmare wearing Polaris colors simply by knocking my "reliable" Honda. Race and trail tested for many years, setting a quality standard, I'm ready to ride today...are you? Oh, I guess we can go by the dealer and see if they're done working on your TrailBlunder, but then again how much crow do you wanna be eating? Enough said.
I'm shopping for tires to maximize my performance. I've stopped comparing myself to the Polaris 250 I ride with on the weekends and focused on improving both the bike and my riding even at the risk of leaving my cuz in the dust. I'll be the one waiting for the Rattler to upgrade his bike...definitely NOT the other way around.
Hillside Hawk
P.s. Take your jealousy to the trails Rattler, not to this forum.
