Default ATV transmissions

Hi all,

I am from the university of arizona mini baja racing club. We design and construct a little one seat, 10hp off road race car and compete every year with 120 other universities. We want to use a manual transmission this year (previous years we ran CVTs) but I don't know too much about whats out there in ATVs. One of the problems we come across is that most ATV tranys are a part of the engine, we need one that is somewhat not attached to the engine. Is there any out there? All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Don't know what your requirements are, but check out the divorced trannys used on choppers.

Don't have too many requirements. Just something small, light, but heavy enough to handle 10hp with a couple gears and a clutch (preferably a wet clutch) which we can connect to a 10hp brigs. Thanks for the suggestion to look into choppers. I know harlys are separate from the engine. I will look into it. any other suggestions?
