I know it has something to do with the chain and/or sprocket but what does it do? Is it worth the money?

An amplink reduces the suspension load-up when you accelerating quickly. I don't know how, but it does work--if you don't plan on jumping. It WILL snap the chain eventually.

Amplink will only work on a quad in which the counter shaft is located far from the swingarm pivot. The only that is like that that the amplink works good on is the Banshee. The Hondas have the front sproket very close to the pivot piont so it will not work. It will break and tear off the teeth on the sprokets. I think that ATK's had them stock on there bikes.

I had a Amplink on my 91 250X and it worked alright. The o-rings on the rollers wore out quick and it made alot of noise. On the plus side, you could run the chain alot tighter and I didn't have to adjust the chain as much. But I think it did cause the front sprocket to wear out quicker.

All I ever hear about the Amp Link is that its the biggest waste of money. For the claim they put on it, it doesnt give you any added performance. If you have your chain adjusted right there should be no problem there. My "opinion" is not to buy it and get a part thats more useful and worth while.
