I love how Honda keeps their suspensions tight, yet they are able to get the most out of a limited amount of travel. Even their IRS machines, have reasonable stability.
My buddies who have top heavy big bores with sloppy long travel suspension, fear to tread in off-camber situations where my light little Rancher with a low center of gravity, is stable and perfectly at ease!!!
I found a BruteForce the other day that had tumbled down a hill, because he couldn't make the off-camber (I will say that he was loaded down pretty good, with stuff on the racks). Thing is, I zip through that trail section all the time, and have never ever even come close to rolling it........

Depends on make also. a 660 Grizzly dialed to the softest is like a Polaris dialed to the 2nd stiffest. I keep mine on the softest ,the stiffest I use only if I,m on a fishing trip going in loaded heavy. Without a load and on the stiffest setting it feels like someone welded all the pivot points, it that uncomfortable, just like I was back on the Big Bear.
I do have the aftermarket HD springs thought.

I use mine for a more utility vehicle. I am always hauling something or towing a trailer so I have had my springs set to the max since day 1. The older it got the more the springs and the shocks got tatered the softer the ride got. So I tried the Highlifter HD spings which worked great. Now my shocks are toast so I am in the process of replacing them.
Only thing about the adjustments on these shocks is it is not easy to do. Especially on the rear tires. So even though you have the cool ittle wrench it is not like you can easily adjust them in the field.
