Will 26x9x12 ITP 589's rub using stock wheels on front of a polaris sportsman 500 4x4? If so what can be done to make them work?

nope, if stock is 25"(not sure what stock is though), then 26" will not matter, usually. If they do rub, you can try wheel spacers.

 

I'm thinking that they will likely rub on your tie rod ends. Mine did on my 05 800. Not sure on newer models though. Put a set of 1" hilifter spacers on.

 

Well its sounding like i will have to go to spacers. Wonder if i could use a couple flatwashers to space out the wheel ?

 

The 9x12's 589's are some fat, beefy tires, you sure you want them on the front? I have 589's in 27", in the front they are 9x10 and the rear is 9X12 and they stick out also throw mud on me. I was just going by replacing with stock size, with the exception of getting it in a 27". Anyway, when I looked at the tires after they shippped to me I was like wow! They are huge! Luckily they fit, but I can't imagine having that 9x12 in the front, harder to steer, and possibly might not fit to begin with.

 

im confused,what size is stock on the machine? a 26x9x12 is not that big of a tire. To make sure were on the same page ronsfun you are saying the wheel is 26 inches tall, 9 inches wide, and is on a 12 inch rim. Now kodiak450 is making it sound like its a 12 inch wide tire on a 9 inch rim. in this case,yes its big and beefy and wont turn very well and will most likely rub. My understanding that stock is 25x8x12 which means the 26s are not much bigger, same size rim only 1 inch wider(or half inch wider on each side, however you want to look at it),and 1 inch taller( which means half inch more ground clearance). I dont have a polaris so i cant say much,but im trying to help figure this out with you guys. I have an arctic cat 700 with 28x10x12 on all 4 corners and it drives perfectly fine with out rubbing,of course they are both different machines but a 10 inch wide tire handles very well for me. So a 9 inch wide tire should do just fine for you. Sorry for the long post, just trying to get things figured out.

 

They will rub with stock wheels. Spacers are an option.

 

You are right mudslinginfool. Im saying 26x9x12. Where the 9 is the width, not 12" wide as some else was talking. At any rate i have the tires on the polaris now and the front tire is BARELY rubbing the tie rod end.
So im investigating solutions. I dont want to use washers or spacers though. Thanks
