96 polaris scrambler belt or gearbox problem?
#1
bought a used scrambler and rebuilt the topend for my girlfriend. the quad was in pieces when i bought it. i got it together and it will barely crawl forward. the new belt appears to be working properly and the engine sounds like new. i have a clymer manual but i think it would be best used to start a fire and i am not familiar with belt driven trans.
Q-it looks like it was towed by a chain by the previous owner. if it was towed in gear could that have ruined the gearbox?
Q-are there any adjustments on the belt?
Q-could the reverse system be causing this (i have tried holding the overdrive/ride button)?
Q- what else could be the problem?
thank you for anyhelp. i dont want to give up on a wheeler that has 75% tread left on the origional tires, but if i cant fix it im buying a reg trans quad 4 her.

welcome to the site mike,,,,,,,,don't give up the ghost yet,i have both a trailblazer250+scram500 and would not sell either for anything. there are gobs of mods for both,,,,,repaired my trans for $28. one needle bearing done!!! trying to get an idea about your problem, could be a couple easy things, first no oil or debris anywhere in or around clutches,,,,,,,,,,,

no oil or debis. i took the tranny out and it is at a shop. this scrambler will be for sale asap with a rebuit 20 over and rebuit tranny. polaris has a horrible design because they require too much time and effort to work on just like a newer car. thats a damn shame too because they are made in the us instead of japan. honda suzuki or yamaha here i come (again)
