I heard they're heavy but I'm not sure. Aren't they an 8-ply tire?

ya i believe they are 8ply. I found somewhere that for 25s the fronts weigh 18lbs and the rears weigh 20lbs. I dont know if that is a correct weight or not. I will more than likey be staying with 25s I didnt think that seemed to heavy but i havent weighed any other tires

I have the Spartacus tires from the same manufacturer (8 ply also). The additional weight for the 8 ply is well worth the minimal sacrifice to performance. I have had countless nails in my tires the last 2 years but none have been able to get all the way through. With the stock tires (3 ply) I think, I had to slime them up the first week I purchased my Hawkeye. The 8 ply is also a sturdier tire, stands up well against rocks and sticks. I have over 1500 miles on my tires and have been very satisfied with them. Green Ball makes some good quality tires. Don't think you'd be disappointed. I purchased mine through my local Discount tire store. They were able to get the full set for about $100 less (including shipping and mounting) than the GBC Online price. P.S. The Commanders are going to be my next set of tires if these ever wear out.

Sorry for the life story, Just really happy with GBC's product.
