I was just wondering if anyone had an opion on the vampire tires? And has anyone tried the new asx vampires? What is the largest size of rims and tire can you put on a rubicon without putting the lift and fender kit on the machine?

Thanks

Jim

Just so you know the lugs on the Vampire ASX are NOT as tall as the Vampire lugs. They are the short ones that are on the SuperSwampers. I would not go with the ASX tires. As far as rims go a 12x7 rim is what you are looking for but you can use the stock rims for any tire. For wheels if you go to 28s you will have to get a fender kit. No lift is required for any current size tires. I run 28s with no lift right now. In order to not run a fender kit I would assume a 27 or lower would be needed. I highly suggest the fender kit for any Rubicon owner. It doenst modify anything. What it does is it gives the floorboards support on the outside in front of the footpeg. Stand on yours now and it gives big time. The kit fixes this.

I have a friend who rides with our group that has 27" Vampires on a 99 Foreman and they are incredible in mud. BUT....... The larger tires are very hard on the machine. He has had to replace wheel bearings and now has two loose (need replacing) upper ball joints and he goes through brakes quickly.

It does make the machine bad to the bone but it will wear on the supension/brake components considerably quicker.
