As part of the deal on a new rubicon my dealer threw in a set of 26x10 and 26x12 gators.I have heard little about them but am told they are very similar to mud bugs.Does anyone have experience with gators?

Best tire going for mud and trails in my opinion.

I love 'em! your friends won't like them if they ride behind you, they tend to throw rocks

They also won't like you when they ride behind you in the snow. they spin and throw the snow back, filling the ruts it completely with snow, and they get stuck (happens all the time)

Mine Work extremely well (26") and i rarely get stuck, even 2WD! As for in the sand, i don't know, but that doesn't concern me. They are smoother than stock on gravel roads too, the only area they are a little rougher is on a rocky trail, because the side wall doesn't flex like a 2ply stocker does................but then i'd rather have no flats too!

i dont have the gators , but i do have the mud bugs and i like the way they perform. yes they will throw quite a bit of tail behind you, but thats good cuz the treads are cleaning them selfs. only thing i noticed is they are a little bummpy at slow speeds cuz of the tread pattern and a 6 ply tire is a little stiffer ride than a softer 2 ply stock tire.

does anyone here know the tread depth size on the 26" gators? I have the mud runners and I was just wondering how they compare!

The tread depth seems quite similar to the mudrunners. One thing that I did notice is that although they are listed as 26x10"s they are actually less than 9" wide on my rims.Even on wider rims I don't think they would actually make 10".The 26x12's are about 11.5" on my rims so they could possibly make 12" on wider rims.
