For those who ride Dumont
#1
I talked to the Barstow BLM office today and found out the skinny on the new fees and noise restrictions. BLM guy was real cool. Told me it would cost $60 a year or $20 for a 7 day pass, $15 if you buy the pass online or at the Barstow office itself. He told me the pass would be similar to a handicapped placard and the vehicle needs to have it displayed when it crosses the river (not afterwards so everyone just hand theirs back to your buddies).
He told me noise regulations would most likely NOT be enforced due to the mass amount of people. They understand we outnumber them 50 to 1 and do not want to start a riot. He told me it would be enforced if you are riding naked, double, with no helmet, backwards, doing 100 mph through the camps, and argued.
He told me the money was to hopefully be used to pave the 6 mile dirt road in, build two more restrooms with possible showers, and build an aid station. Restrooms at Johnson Valley and Stoddard Valley are to be built first.
