~~~Are These Sand Tires Kewl?~~~
#1
I ran across an offer today I couldn't refuse.
$100 for a set of KFX/Z400 stock rear rims with new Ohtsu H-Trak Pro Wedge tires.
Are these tires pretty good?I know they don't hold a light to the new SandStars but for that price hmmm.
I rode behind a Raptor at the dunes that had these tires and they looked like they hooked up pretty well in sand and soft dirt.
They are better than knobbys in the sand, but definitly don't hook up as well as paddles. They are a thin rubber so they are prone to punctures... so I would use them for "sand only" and not for trail use. Drag racers use them in the dirt, but their racing dirt is also fairly free of debris that can punture them.
Kewl,yea I'm planing to only use them in sand or deep mudd.It never snows here :S ... so couldn't use them for that.Them suckers are light as hell though I would say 2 pounds tire and rim.
They look a lot like the Maxxis 4-snow . I've heard the Maxxis is a great drag tire.
