how do u find the haulers for turning , its real important where i ride a lot of narrow twisting tracks through the dunes and if the front pushes it usualy leadt to a crash
Yardbird I was trying out my end cap today and i found im a bit rich trying to get into full throttle with a 175 im at sea level
is your end cap the same one i have and what altitude do u ride at

The endcap I'm using is a Mr. HP wanna be. It is similar in design and I'm running a 170 main and I'm thinking a little lean after two rides and looking at my plugs. Are you sure you are running rich and not hitting the rev limiter at full throttle? I've found it is a lot easier and quicker to hit the rev limiter now without the restrictive stock endcap. I've just ordered the dial-a-jet system and installed a K&N filter with outerwear. I will probably put back the 165 main and hopefully the dial-a-jet will compensate for any leaness{fingers crossed}. I've read where you are suppose to drop down 2 main jet sizes but I think with the endcap and new filter and maybe the airbox lid off it will do the trick. I think in the future I will look at a new CDI and regulator to see what kind of gains that might have.

Yeah i pretty sure its rich It was bogging when i was running at say half revs in top gear then opening the throttle full open
Im going to town tommorow so i will see if i can get a couple more jets a 170 and 172 and see how they do.
And you are right about the limiter i hardly noticed it before and now i hit it all the time, what is the limit on these bikes i heard it was around 8k
i Dont have the x so no rev counter but it would be usefull when setting the bike up.
As for the cdi the DS does feel like it could rev more easily but im not sure how the power curve is at higher rpm.
how does the dial a jet work?
you dont happen to have the K&N part number for your filter do you?
good luck on your set up

I haven't installed the dial-a-jet yet. It's suppose to be here tomorrow and I'll post how the install went and won't be able to test it for a couple of weeks. Here's the K&N part number......BD-6500. I got mine from Alba and it fits perfectly. I also got an outerwear for it.
Here's the website for the dial-a-jet and click the link for dial-a-jet. Dial-a-jet

Update
After getting hold of a 170 jet and trying it it seemed ok (at my house not the beach a little higher elevation) but when i plug chopped it with the 170 the plug was still white so i put the 175 back in and tried another plug chop still ran ok and the plug was stilll way to light.
So it looks like the problem was to lean all along and it was being agrivated when running on the beach ie right down at sea level.
I have e mailed mr hp to get his thoughts on the matter before i go off on the hunt for more jets they are a real pain to get hold of here.
but it just shows the differance in flow with that end cap if moving from a 165 to a 175 aint enough
