Default Theft at Pismo

Has anyone had here had items stolen out of their campsites?

My cousin was down there a couple of monts ago and someone walked off with a couple of helmets and other items overnight. The sad thing about it was the helmets belonged to the kids and they were stuck in camp the rest of the weekend unable to ride.

I have actually heard of entire ATV's being stolen down there.

Im headin out there middle of june after the kids get out of school. Thanx for the heads up. My pals and I always lock up our quads together at night and in general make it difficult for anyone to take them. As for small items, they should go inside your vehicle, tent, toybox and not be left around camp. During the day, try and keep one rider or someone in camp to keep an eye on things. Theres plenty of time to rotate someone in and out. My two cents.

Its gonna happen anywhere. There are always going to be theives. But all you can do is make sure you lock your stuff up right. That way there wont be that problem.

i make day trips to pismo on a regular basis and have never had or seen any thefts. if we have all three quads, but 2 people go riding while the third is takin a walk along the beach, then we simply toss everything in the car, including the key to the third quad, and we have a hidden, hard to get to spot on the car where we put the key, so whoever gets back first can get the stuff. taking the few extra minutes to take care of your stuff can save you hundreds of dollars, luckily most people out there are honest and wont mess with your stuff.

From what I've heard the theves like to come out at night when everyone is asleep. Too many people around during the day to not be seen.

We've had gas and ice chest stolen from our camp. We've had the ice chest stolen at night (the chest with the cold ones of course)and the last time, gas was stolen during the day while we were out on a ride. Fellow deputy had his and his friends new honda 400s stolen from camp at night, luckily they were able to follow the track to another camp where the thieves asked for some gas during the night. Eventually they found the quads at the beginning of sand hi-way with the two thieves near by. We always lock up the quads to each other at night and while out of camp. I might have to try what was mentioned in another thread, oil in the gas can and watch for excessive smoking quads the next morning

All you can really do is make it harder then the next guy so they don't mess with your stuff. If they want it, unfortunately they will find a way to take it
