Best 4-stroke dune quad?
#21
A friend of mine has one of almost every sport quad made, and many with various modifications. His favorite dune quad is a DS650.
Oh, by the way, it has a Yamaha FJ 1100 inline 4 for an engine.

I don't know about Choke Cherry, but my KFX700 with Duals and an EPI Primary Spring with a set of Haulers, will climb anything that the Oregon Coast Dunes has to throw at it. I'm not one of these get a 200 yard run at it kind of people either. I love to putt up to or even stop at the base of a big hill (The steeper the better) and hammer it. The big ol heavy V hasn't failed me once. The Torque of the KFX700 is incredible.
I will say that having spent time riding both my KFX700 and my KFX400 in the sand, the V will tend to wear down faster. You may want to concider that when giving it to your wife. My wife loves to ride the V in the dunes, but would get tired of having to man handle the big V and need to go back to the 400. Now she pretty much rides the 400 all the time, which is fine with me, because once you get used to the Torque of the 700, it is hard to go back to riding the 400.

I tried Choke cherry on a bone stock KFX700 with Sand shark paddles, on good sand, and could only get about 3/4 of the way up. I weigh 200. Last weekend though, and guy on a V Force with pipes and paddles was pulling it on difficult sand, he was a bit smaller guy than me.

90% of the people that I ran into this weekend were going to sell their Preditors when they got home... Only the highly modified ones were able to pull any decent hills, and both modified and stock Preditors were breaking down left and right...Engines, tranny's, steering stems, steering linkage...what a mess. Most of these were repeat failures too!
