Default Lube chain for the sand?

I lubed my Raptor's chain like the book says before I went to the sand and of course it is all caked with sand. A fellow rider said that you do not lube a chain if you go to the sand. True? Whats the best way to clean it now without taking it off?

I use VP chain wax. It dries, so not much sticks to it.

I use PJ-1 chain wax. Can't say I've ever had a problem with sand build up.

Yeh, don't use an oil based lube, wax works alot better than it (debateable). But i wouldn't not lube my chain

I would use a chain wax and not use wd 40. It is a penatrate and not a lubricant A lot of makes owners manuals recomend cleaning with kerosene.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the wax. Once sand gets stuck on it good luck getting it off. My bike came from the factory with wax on the chain. First trip out to the dunes and it was caked with sand. Took me several hours to get it clean. Have since been using Triflow to periodically lube my chain. Before heading to the dunes just whipe the chain down with a shop towel to remove any excess. I get back and have very little sand on the chain now. What sand I do have can easily be removed with a garden hose. A pressure washer wouldn't even remove the sand from the chain wax that was originally on the bike.
