but digging holes constitutes to weight and chassis setup, not torque.

torque wins races......even the big banshee guys know that and banshees are more famous for HP than torque. hence why a lot of less HP making hondas (2 stroke) can hang with big hp banshees in the 300ft drags - the hondas make better torque in comparison.

plus i was refering to duning not shooting hills. i love the smooth power of a 4 stroke for instance when you roll up to a big dune at a slow speed and power up it. you better be ready on my bike or you're gonna meet the handle bars in a hurry.

Well I agree with you on the Honda 2 strokes, I have a honda cr500 in my quad frame, but when we plant our front tires on the steepest faces of the sand dunes we can find, my two stroke and the yfz will shoot the hills but the raptor wont make it the top before getting stuck

In every magazine I read the YFZ won the 450R and I also have a YFZ and beat any 450R on sand that I've raced and on MX it depend on how good the rider is.

stock for stock, that means tires, suspension, exhaust, everything, the 450r and yfz are pretty much dead even in a 300ft. drag. now a yfz with an exhaust and a 450r with an exhaust is different. the yfz motor sees a lot of hp gains from jus an exhaust cuz yamaha sucks and making a decent exhaust for their quads, its the same thing on the raptor. performance wise, i think yamaha built a better motor, but i think if they could smooth out the yfz's powerband and add a honda built exhaust, and put that motor in a 450r chassis with a +1 1/4" swingarm, that would be the best bike on the planet. both atvs excel in different areas.

Torque can make a difference in winning races, although I'm not all that convinced that the 4-fiddy-R has enough of a torque advantage over the YFZ to overcome its HP shortfall. I've seen lots of 450Rs loose to YFZs. And I think you would need a bigger torque advantage to make up the difference, such as with a modded DS or Rappy.

the hp dif. between a stock yfz and a stock 450r is like 1-2 hp. one thing that i've noticed when people compare the yfz and the 450r is this: they compare based on drag races between modded yfz and a modded 450r when it's well known that the yfz responds to mods more than the 450r, and they compare them based on the mx track where they are very highly modified. i'm not sayin this to anybody in particular, but just to point out a few facts that seem to be overlooked by many yfz and 450r fanat ics.

the 450r won the baja race nearly bone stock.
the yfz has one every shootout between it and the 450r.
farr won the TT series on the 450r.
yfz and 450r were both beat by a z400 in the mx nationals.
the yfz was built for the racetrack, the 450r wasn't.
the 450r is comfortable for everybody, has a smooth powerband, and kickstarts easily.
the yfz has whoop-crushing suspension, a strong mid-range hit, and an electic start.

how exactly can u say that one is better than the other? the truth of the matter is that it all comes down to rider preference.
