450r vs yfz450
Another thing, crobiker, you mentioned the 4strokewars winning 450r.you cant compare that quad to the average joes quad, which mine is.There are alot of speed secrets people dont know about, and they do.Set-up and rider skills factor in immensely.Everytime i hear someone say hillshooting requires no skill,i laugh my *** off.I have beaten alot of people outriding them thru the whoop sections, and they are thinking, that guy is fat and im skinny and i know my quad is faster, wtf?Well maybe if you matched a little riding skill to your quad you would win.Hello!Anyway, comparing 4stroke wars quads just isnt a good example of motor performance. Also, when it comes down to it whoever has the most money and best builder will win most of the time anyway.I think it comes down to preference.I have always owned yamahas and thats why i have a yfz,i would take the honda in a heartbeat, but its not for me,why because i like yamahas.its that simple.PIped and jetted they dont even comparre, until you drop a cam in the honda.

gotcha. i just didnt remember seeing a TRX winning any other classes except the under 500 open. the results posted on PS.com dont state what kind of bike the winner was riding in some of the results which should my confusion.

HA2, the 450r that won was stock bore and stroke. i don't beleive there were any pulsechargers at 4SW, but i'll have to check on that. as for the thing about comparing a 4SW bike to an average joe's bike, phatblack is right. you really can't compare them, usually. in this case tho i'm not comparing an open class to the average person's bike, i'm comparing the under 500cc stock class. yes the guys that built it have tons of experience and a lot of dyno time, but they didn't do anything super radical, except for the cam, i beleive that was custom.
Stoic: i sold my 400ex so that i could get a 450r. trust me when i say this, the power output between the 400ex and a 450r (stock -vs- stock) is night and day. it's like comparing a 300ex to a 400ex. the 450r has tons more power, however your 440ex must be much closer to the output of a 450r. the 450r handles whoops awesome, the only issue is that the rebound on the rear shock is valved too fast, but nothing major. my guess is that the guy that wanted to start in front of the whoops just doesn't have the ability that you do to ride them properly.
once people catch on to high velocity porting, and the pulsecharger comes out, and the hammerhead piston is perfected, the new 450's will be un-beatable. i'd be willing to bet that they will rival super-modded banshees.

During practice runs about a 1/2 hour before the event my rider on my stock blue YFZ with Jardine pipe and K&N filter beat that TRX470 two out of two with his FSW rider on his.
They didn't compete in the event because the TRX470 was not in stock bolt on class. PHatBlack450, I think you raced against my quad in the bolt on class.

I just happened upon a video of the pre-lims to the under 500 "bolt on" final. The winner in this pre-lim, Sparks bike, also won the final. However Brett/Glamisbound is on my YFZ and took 2nd in this run. I think if the hill was longer he may have reeled in the bolt on class winner. Brett was wearing a black shirt and was on the blue YFZ 2nd from right. This video shows him really making up some ground during the last 1/2 of the run.

Hey,your quad does pull hard.I got thrown in stock bore, and my rider took 3rd in both heats and got eliminated. Then way later in the day i saw them running the bolt-on class again and it was about to start so i just rode my own bike, and got eliminated.Im way to heavy(220) to compete with those little riders.I still had a blast and later was happy i atleast participated in the event. After 4_Stroke Wars was awesome, with everyone just pulling up and racing.Im sure i raced against yours at one time or another ,i raced all day saturday too.

Yes I really enjoyed the event, but like you I'm a bit heavy for just straight hillshooting at 180 lbs especially with the whoops GONE. Brett at 140 and very skilled is a fantastic rider. He ran my bike in bolt on and then his in modified. If they wouldn't have groomed out all the whoops for the guys that showed up with their little skinny drag front tires and inadequate front suspension, I'm confident the results would have been different.
I really enjoyed running a bunch of guys the day before and than after the event was over..
There was allot of confusion during the event with the wrong bikes in the wrong classes.. I saw guys and have photos of them in the botl on class when they should have been in the stock bore class.. They need some more organization to the event.. but it was fun to ride with all those bikes.

You hit that nail on the head,i saw a picture of that guy in the modified pictures and he was running against me in the bolt-on class.WTF?He must be confident with his bolt-on set-up.lol.About the whoops, that is a fact. That girl you see me racing against,on Saturday,i beat her quite a few times, then they smoothed out the hill and it was over.I was glad i got to redeem myself after the races. Its all good though because i had a ball regardless.I mainly went down there to see how mine stacked up,and i was pleased.
