okay i am a long time rider and my neighbor just got some quads and they have two 90's for there two kids. they want to go dester riding in arizona between phoniex and l.a. which area's are the best for two kids that have never riden before and a father that has a 300 suzuki kingquad. i told him to go to glamis but started to think if that place is to big and the difficulty level might be to high. i just went to glamis myself and LOVE IT. but was wondering what other area's are easy to ride.

There's not much passed the "Imperial Dunes" towards Phoenix....
Best places that I know... would be;
Superstition Mountains.
Just off the 8... 1.5hrs from San Diego.
Best ridden with knobbies as there's both hard pack and some good small dunes. And a couple big ones.
Buttercup.
Off the 8, just before Yuma. 2.5hrs from San Diego.
Paddles are best. Dunes are bigger than Superstition, but nothing to compare to Glamis.
From Easiest to hardest, from most family to party atmosphere, from beginner dunes to monsterous;
- Superstition
- Buttercup
- Gordon's Well
- Glamis
Hope that helps Adam.

Vote for Gordons Wells on the other side of the 8 from Buttercup. Same set of dunes as Glamis just a little down on the scale of dunes but since the crowds are lighter I can think of just as many good times there as Glamis.
Super is also a nice place to visit and is family friendly. Watch out for rocks here.

For those beginners and the 300...I would stick with flat sand and low dunes.
Don't forget that Easter will start to get hot in that part of the country. I was at Glamis one Easter and we had to kick back in the middle of the day...too hot to ride. So we rode mornings and evenings.
Glamis has plenty of low and flat stuff, all the way down the wash road between the road and the big dunes. Also Gorden's Well has limited small stuff.

For first timers with kids buttercup is a must. Very easy riding with lots of flat land for the kids to ride around camp. If they want to get more adventurous then they can hit the dunes

Ogilby Road is my favorite family destination. Lots of small dunes close by. And a quick ride to big dunes. Nice and quiet and no crowd. But all these places are way better on non-holiday weekends. And Glamis isn't too far away if they wanted more excitement.
