Default Severe tire shake

Mounted up a new set of 16 " exciter paddles and have a terrible shake now. Almost unbearable. Do these need to be balanced?

dude, you gotta align the paddles w/ each other side to side.
adjusting the splines on the axle or dismount the tires and try with mounting them up in line.

Took that into consideration, but still unbearable tire shake. Any other ideas?

When I picked up my Cannondale the ITP RIM was drilled off-center. That caused one really bad shacking in the front end. When I got home I set it up in the grab bar and rotated the tires you could see the rim move up and down. The dealership replaced no charge. That's my favorite repair.

We mounted up brand new Skate Trak Exciter's 16" x 6.5" - 8 on new Douglas 8" x 6" wheels. Lined up the paddles and hubs. This is on a 05 ETON 70 with a 45lb. kid on it and it like to shook him right off. Dad jumped on to try and the same thing. I'm beginning to think we have a bent wheel or tire out of round. Will have to look closer tomorrow. Thanks.

Default tire out of round

sounds like your tires are out of round. No amount of balancing will fix that. Try returing them and getting a new set.

If they are ITP tires "Good Luck"

I have sixteen that are out of round and ITP will not warranty any of them.

These will be that last ITP (carlisle) tires I buy

it`s difficult to even use the word "ballancing" when it comes to a tire that dosent even look round to begin with. a sand tire or similar has a lot of dynamic mass, or "weight in motion" so a little vibration is normal. but in this situation i agree with the rim is bent, drilled offcenter, or the tire has an imperfection. my yfzr excibited the same problam with a set of haulers on .125 itps. i tried indexing the tire to rim, lining up left to right and all it did was change the frequency of the vibration. i then ran the tire/wheel asm. on a ballancer and saw that the rim was off center. i now run a set of sand trax sti combos and they work great.
