I'm taking a Criminal Justice class and i doubt that you'll get restitution...because most theives are poor, that why they steal stuff, and i doubt that you will get much out of him. Sorry, but its worth a shot!

Default Stolen quad recovered!

A friend got his Weekend Warrior trailer stolen off of his driveway. The thing went missing for a few months, then the thief's truck broke down on the freeway while hauling it. Guess what, the Highway Patrol checked the registration on the truck (it was registered on the Indian Reservation!), but never checked the trailer at all. Finally, when the impound people went to try and sell the trailer, it came up stolen.....nobody had checked the trailer at all before that. (Of course impound isn't going to check it. They want it to sit there until they can take it over for back storage fees. They are just as big crooks as anybody is!!!)

My friend had already collected the insurance, and now has a nice new (bigger) hauler (back in his driveway). At the time, something like 20 trailers had been stolen in the area. I am not quite sure what the reservation connection was. I think they stashed the hot trailers up on the reservation where nobody would ask questions, then when things cooled down, they haul them down to Mexico and sell them. Guess they didn't make enough money on their multimillion dollar casino.

I don't agree with you. The courts can order restitution and do it on a regular basis. It usually is part of settling the case. Probation can force him to pay $5 (hopefully more)to pay back the restitution. If they don't pay it up, they can have their probation revoked, and possibly go back to jail.
