Default Need information on Glamis / Imperial Dunes

I am making what will probably be a once in a lifetime trip to California. I making a point to visit the Imperial dunes (Glamis) and hopefully ride them with my son. We have never ridden the dunes before.

I have been doing a lot of research online but haven't found a place to rent some quads yet. I found a place that goes to Baja but I'd rather go to Glamis.

Is there a place to rent quads near Glamis? Any help would be appreciated!

Nevermind. I decide to go to Pismo instead. I heard Glamis is much to hot in July plus there are ATV rental places in Pismo (Oceano).

Too bad your going to miss Glamis tho. It's awsome.
Once in a lifetime trip eh...That's what I said on my first trip out west to dune. Once sand gets in your buttcrack,,your hooked!!

Yeah chaw! The trick is to hibernate during daylight hours then caffene out and ride all night when temp's are in the low 90's! One thing for sure is you own the dunes in the summer and you are the fastest guy at the hill! Not many people can make a trip as far as you and say that!

Or, better yet. Postpone the trip until late September. After all, they don't call Glamis "the sand toy capitol of the world" for nothing.

Also, I know a place in Yuma that you can rent quad's.

I heard the other day that the Brawly Inn (the closest "civilization" to Glamis) was offering a summer special. You sleep late, go out to the dunes to ride all night and then get a late check out the next day.

The latest I've been to Glamis was in May. Too hot to ride during the day, but wooo hooo for those night and early morning rides. Pismo, while a treat to ride on the beach, just does not compare to the sheer vastness and fun of Glamis.

Just move the trip to some time in October!

Well my son and I got to ride at Pismo - Oceano Dunes. We rented 2 quads from BJ's. I got him the 125 Breeze and I rode the newer version of the 400ex. He rode for 2 hours and I rode for 3. The weather was great and the dunes were not that busy. It was a lot rougher than I thought it would be, not talking about the large whoops but the "washboard" caused from everyones tracks. It was pretty awesome though and I hope to go back some day.

Glamis is the bomb.
I am from CT and have been there a couple of times.
I have been wanting to get a tour together from Ct to glamis for some time now.

Charter a plane and stay at brawley inn. I have someone who can get us all ATV's out there.
if anyone is interested CT, NY , RI to glamis email me at cstockbird@aol.com
