Best campground in Florence?
We are going to take a trip to the Florence Dunes next summer and are wondering what the best camprground is? We have a 26ft and a 24ft trailer coming with us and would like to have full hookups with access to the dunes without having to trailer the quads to them. Any help would be great!

Hey we have been camping around there alittle in last couple of years and found a couple of places. Ones that you might try are Driftwood 2, look at the state of oregon for state parks http://ra1.reserveamerica.com/jsp/co.../newindex.html , There are about 30 SAND camp sites that have a post in the ground and 150 feet aorund for your camping site, and then the Driftwood 2 sites is just one big pad and pay showers but nice. So take your pick and have fun.

There are no full hookup camp sites available during the summer months.
The only campground with full hookups on the Florence dunes, with the exception of Thousand Trails, is Jesse Honeyman State Park and you only have direct sand access from there from Sept. 1st - April 31st.
Reservations ARE A MUST!
Go to Reserveamerica.com and search for the Driftwood campground. Water is available and there are pay showers. It has direct sand access with plenty of room for your trailers. You need to bring a generator if you need 110 power.
Honeyman State Park is a fantastic campground if you go between Sept. and April. Again, reservations are a must there too!
If you are a member of Thousand Trails camping club there is one of those there too. There is also Sand Dunes Frontier that has direct sand access but no hookups. This would be the last place you'd want to stay though.

There aren't water hook-ups, but water is available.
You need to take a hose and cut the end off that screws onto the faucet, then you can stick this end over the spout on the faucet (it is not threaded).
You can't be hooked up the whole time but you can refill your tank.

Woahink Lake Rv Resort about 5 miles S. of Florence has full hookups and you can ride directly into the dunes on a sand trail about 1/3 mile long.
Must have stock mufflers 93 db or less, no sand rails and no dune buggys. No hot rod dirt bikes, fact is I have not seen any dirt bikes in the park. They run a tight ship which makes it great. Really a nice campground.
