We will be there too. Staying at the Harbor view motel.

What day/night you coming down?? We will be there Sat morning around 9-10 AM in the far parking lot at Winchester Bay. You've got my cell #. Give me a call, and we can figure out how, when and where to hook up.

I'll probably be in Winchester bay also on Saturday. If you're staying at Discovery Point for the first time be prepared for bikes running in the camp until 11:00 every night It is a nice campground though with direct dune access and the first thing you run into when reaching the dunes is Banshee hill!! Take a couple runs up it when you go by.

-MRDS650, Have fun on your trip. If you meet up with 2fun he can show you around the area's. He will also show you why he bought that YFZ450. There are some nasty holes and tree shoots that my DS has been winched out of several times. You've got the motor now and a longer swing arm so I hope that I get a report of how you did coming out of some of those places. I'm going to still try and make it there on Tuesday or Wednesday for a day trip. I will be looking for you.

Oh and incase you wondering where to find some jumps.... There are a few(if the sand is right) just out of the staging area about 200 yards to the right. There is usually a decent gap jump of about 60 feet if you head striaght out from the staging area and towards the first group of trees. I use the flats to gain speed for this one!! Yes Sir

2fun show me the place all right. It was the first time ever in the dunes I had to have the school bus (DS650) whiched out of a hole/hill. I got stuck on a side hill and could not get going again. The place would be great to get a few guys together and play a little follow the leader.

The weather was not great and discovery point camp ground will not get my money again, but all in all a good trip.

So do tell about the rest of the trip! Did you visit Florence?? CoosBay??

What happened with the weather?

What happened at Discovery point that made you unhappy with them??

Glad you made it home safe!

2Fun

I guess I am spoiled. After ridding St. A's (the best dunes) I am always trying to compair them.

I did like Oregon, but the ridding area was small again compaired to St. A's. Although i did not get a chance to ride Coos Bay or Florence. With the rig I had loading and unloading the quads daily was not something i was really prepaired to do.

The weather was the crappy. I was thinking since it was August it would be nice. I did not have a chance to ride with out a sweater or at least 2 shirts on. I probably did not think that being so close to the water would have such a great effect on the weather. Once you got 15 minutes inland it was nice.

Discoverey point was a hole. I am sure most people with a trailer would not notice it, but since I was tent camping I did. The bathrooms were disgusting dirty with 1 light bulb. There were 4 burnt out light bulbs in the bathroom for a week when I was there.

I also hate having the ride on pavement with my paddles out of the campground. It would be nice it they have a path out to the dunes in sand or even gravel.

Thats my 2 cents

Sorry to hear about the bathrooms. You should of went to the Coosbay dunes. Way larger area to ride. Almost 10 miles long and a few miles wide. I went to St A in June and enjoyed myself but the 18hrs compared to 2.5, I'd rather ride the Oregon coast. IF there is a next time, go visit Coosbay or Florence.
