Default June trip to Little Sahara Utah

We're from Oregon and we've ridden the dunes here more times then we can count and have also went to St. Anthony's in Idaho. So, now we're planning on a trip to Utah and would like any and all info we can get! The best place to stay while there. We have a Toyhauler. We have our two girls with us, ages 14 and 8, so the best place to stay and ride with kids. Also we're looking at going to Lagoon or a water park....which is best, I know Lagoon is both, but is it too hot by then to really enjoy the rides? In Idaho that time of year we enjoyed great thunderstorms, we've been twice and the second time they happened almost every night, does that happen in Utah also? What is the weather like that late in June...besides HOT??!!??

Late June should be fine at the Dunes as well as Lagoon. We actually go to lagoon and stay in the campgrounds there every year in Late July, you can walk back and forth from your trailer to the park.... As for the Dunes, I have three kids myself, 17, 13 and 3, so I don't stay at sandmountain with the heavy partygoers, try Oasis. I got this link from someone in the forums here, I hope you enjoy it as well as I did. www.duneguide.com, you can also try www.utah.com/playgrounds/little_sahara.htm

I try to go down to Little Sahara at least two weekends a month starting in the end of March. We usually slow down in July and August because my camp trailer doesn?t have AC. June can be hot but it?s not unbearable if you stay at Oasis or White sands. They both have some trees for shade. They also have quiet hours at night.
Sand Mountain had no trees and is basically CRAZY all night long. My wife and I used to camp there when we were younger and wanted to be around the Wild life. We prefer to camp at White sand now that we have a young kid. The bad thing about camping at white sands is that it is farther away from Sand Mountain. It takes a bit of time to ride there through the dunes. Normally if we?re going to ride around there for a while we load our wheelers on a trailer from camp and drive there. For the most part we have more fun riding the smaller rolling dunes by White sands.
As for Lagoon, I live 5 minutes away and camping at the campground there is great. Another place you can try is Cherry Hill it?s just up the street about 3 miles. It has a pretty big campground and also a few waterslides and a couple of pools.

Hope this helps

Old post I know, sorry

You'll have a blast at Little Sahara UT. I agree - with kids, you dont want to camp at sound mountain, but out near oasis/white sands - smaller kid friendly dunes.

Lagoon is a BLAST. Itll be hot, but not unbearable in July. You can always go in the evening, I think they stay open until midnight or slightly later in the summer time.

If you just want to do a water park - Seven Peaks in Provo is also alot of fun, but Lagoon has a really decent water park - but the lines to get in the water park are often long, since they restrict the number of people that can be in it at one time.

Look at Coral pink Sand Dunes as well. It is a bit farther South but a real nice campground and IMO more scenic, would be great for kids.
