Help me choose my sand tires
#11
Sand Sharks have a tall paddle. The Haulers are shorter, and the Sand Devils shorter yet. A molded paddle is heavier then a welded on paddle. Haulers dominate here, but like I said, will fall apart faster then a molded paddle. A ten paddle robs more power. Nobody here runs anything other then a 20" tall tire.

I've ran Sand Skate II's, Skat-Trak Haulers and Skat-trak Edges, and I by far like the Skat-Trak edges, they give excellent traction for all around riding.
If all you are doing is drag racing or hill climbing, buy the Skat-Trak Haulers, they are a good strait line paddle.
The problem with Sand Skate II's and like other (sand sharks, etc) is that the paddle actually flexs and will bend over, as with the Skat-Trak Hualers or Edges, the paddles are harder, which gives you less flex and "valcanized" onto the tire. Plus the Skat-Trak tires are quite a bit lighter than any molded tire.

Ditto Chicneater's post. I've tried Sand Skate II's and Skat Trak Haulers. The Sand Skates turn and slide well, but give up a lot in a straight-line drag race. The Haulers are fantastic for straight-line racing or hill climbing, but suck for turning. They bite in too much (is there such a thing?) for running sand trails and tight turns. The front end lightens up too much, and consequently, pushes really bad (FYI: using a set of Mohawks on the front). My next set will be Skat Trak Edges, they seem to be the best of both worlds.
