Glamis Camping Areas
#1
When you watch Huevos videos etc you see alot of well, JERKS. The idiots rideing, jumping, walking through fire. The idiots lined up trying to bury passer bys with sand etc.
Which camping areas are these types of idiots at?
Which camping areas are best to stay away from these type of happenings?
Which camping areas are best for getting sleep at night?
This is a question regarding areas coming in from highway 78. TIA

You can run into idiots anywhere you go!! I have friends who always go to the east side along the train tracks. They swear it is always quieter over there. But, I think some of those areas got closed????? Maybe give BLM a call. Lately, we camp at some place near like Ocotillo Wells or Superstition Mountain, and just do day trips to Glamis.

Every year at Thanksgiving we camp west of Salton City. Just north of Ocatillo wells. Going down highway 86 just before the town of Salton city we take the North Marina Drive rd west into the desert a couple miles. Might take a drive (45 minutes) to Glamis on that Friday and check the crowds for a day. Will be going to Glamis a few weekends (non holiday) I'm sure and will be there for Martin Luther King weekend. Want to give myself the best chance to enjoy my times there. I have friends that go to wash 10 I believe and camp there by the tracks.

In the video that is mostly at Comp Hill. Avoid that place
On large weekends like Thanksgiving we like camp at Ogilby. It is about 3-5 miles due East of Gordons well. Our group will be there Tday if your interested.
It is pretty quiet and you can actually get some sleep!
Only bad thing is you have to ride about 1 mile though some small dunes to get to the big stuff.
E-mail me if you want better directions.

Why avoid comp ?? If you want to run with the fast bikes comp @ night is where its at. Just park @ the bottom of the hill as the pits do get a little rowdy.Ive never had any problems, just like anything else, use your common sense, if 200+ people challange you to drive across the gauntlet just turn around.

Micheal, whats the Guantlet?
So everyone is at Comp hill at night?
Please tell of the happenings at Glamis. Such as the big things to do and see and avoid. Night time, day time, times of day and night. Give as many named areas as possible. I have a map with names of areas and camp grounds. TIA

Holiday Weekends -
Day time = Ride to Olds, watch the happenings at the hill. Maybe take a ride to China Wall (steep dune a ways out towards the central closure) or play in the big bowls behind Olds, go to the drags in the afternoon over by the ranger station and gecko rd.
Night time = sit on top of comp to the side by sand highway and watch the mayem unfold from above. Avoid base of Comp at night.

Thanks Sandjunkie. Been to Olds in the day. Comp hill in the day. Have participated in some drags by the Ranger station. Wasn't a pretty site for me we'll stay off that subject LOL. Have yet to play in the big bowls behind Olds but heard of them. Have yet to ride anywhere other than from gecko road to Olds and comp hill and some areas between. will seek out China wall. I've heard of it also.
Do tell of the mayhem of Comp at night. TIA

The guantlet is what we call the trenches the "trench diggers" dig, they will dig in between rows of trucks 3-4 trenchs 2 foot deep 10 foot long spaced out 2-3 feet, impossible to cross with a quad but someonne always thinks they have the bike that can croos it, winds up getting stuck (big suprise huh ?)and get 40-50 shovel fulls of sand thrown on them. Kinda fu**ed up, but same time kinda funny because they brought it on themselves. Im not down for tearing peoples bikes up or damageing their ride, that part isnt cool.
Bottom of the hill @ night @ comp is the shiznit if you got a fast bike, lots of racing, pretty women,(*)(*)'s. Im 35 so I dont hang around the teen scene towards the back.
As for camping , I like camping behind the store by "dirty bobs" , 2 min from vender row,2 min from that nasty hag that runs the glamis store,5 min from boardmanville (bar wash 9) 15 minutes from olds, comp, china wall
wshrdskin,
PM me and I'll give you my # so we can hook up ,its me,wife,16 yr old son ,6 yr old son.
