Paiute Trail, Utah
#1024

I went for a ride yesterday up past the old mining town of Kimberly.
This is what's left of Main Street of the old town. In its heyday it was home to about 500 residence.

This is Bonanza Jones Road. It was constructed in the later years and used by loggers.
It sits high on the side of the mountain over looking Kimberly.
This is all private property but being good friends with the property care takers I get a free pass.

In the center of the picture is the old mill. It was still being used up until 1990 by just a couple of old miners.

Here's a closer look at the mill.

The original mill build in the early 1990 began crumbling in 1990 or so.
The Annie Laurie mine was the biggest producer and sits close to both mills.

This is now an awesome ATV trail that only a few people get to enjoy.

This looked like as good as any place to stop and have a snack.

Another nice ride. Round trip from my front door was only about 25 miles.

Beautiful scenery. I'll never see it in person, but there's no chance of me falling down the side of a mountain either.
Call me a flat-lander all you want, but I'm staying here. This is a great thread. Keep it going.

Thanks Moose. I can take you there and down and inside that old mill and some other old stuff around there.
Look back at some of my more recent pictures and we should consider the Gooseberry & Great western Trail. They're only a few miles out of Salina.
Maybe one day we should hit Behind The Rocks out in the San Rafael Swell and the next hit Gooseberry. BEAUTIFUL country.

Here's a couple older videos.
This section even makes my butt pucker.

This is a little better. I thought it was cool that the dispatcher was notifying the UHP of a herd of elk camped out on the HWY.
This was our older snowcat - the new one doesn't have a CD player.

Here's our new snowcat we got in Jan 2017. Its awesome. They run engine coolant thru the wiper arm to heat them so ice doesn't built up on them. That was an issue on the old one. You'd have to stop, climb out onto the plow and bust the ice off them. It sucked in a blizzard.

This is actually an awesome job.
I might have posted these before too. Its about 200 miles from my home and from the trailhead to the top is only 5.3 miles and then you head back down the same way you went up.
This is my very favorite trail. I ride it every year and sometimes a couple of times during the year.
The guy behind me has been my best friend for almost 55 years.

We head up in the evening and fix a nice dinner.

Just left of center is where the goats are in the following picture.
As they start down they are a lot closer - 50-75 yards away.

And wait for the goats to come over from the other canyons and start heading down lower for the night.

Its well worth the trip.
